The Subaru Ascent Concept SUV Shines at Auto Shows

Subaru's newest concept SUV has seen quite the roller-coaster ride of news since its original debut in November as the Subaru VIZIV-7 at the fall's LA Auto Show, but it's been charging toward one goal, one final destination:

To be the Subaru brand's first three-row AWD SUV since the retired Tribeca left the Bedford scene.

Introducing the Subaru Ascent Concept SUV

The second wave of releases for Subaru's concept sport utility vehicle introduced us to the Subaru Ascent Concept: slightly smaller than the VIZIV-7, more realistic in its styling, and suspiciously production-ready.

In fact, industry gossip and Subaru media suggest that the Ascent will arrive as a 2019 Subaru model, equipped with an all-new turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder BOXER engine.

The production Ascent will be built on a slightly-modified version of Subaru's new Global Platform--it will still feature a stronger, stiffer, and lighter engineering, just tweaked to be able to fit what is currently the largest vehicle Subaru will be selling.

The Subaru Ascent will go on sale sometime in 2018, it will be able to seat seven passengers, and it will bring all of the style, substance, and capability we love about a Subaru back into the three-row SUV segment.

And if you're not excited yet, then you just don't know Subaru.
