Buck Moore's Long Journey - Jennifer H

Buck Moore came to the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter after he was shot in the head twice, at point blank range. Miraculously he survived, but he had a bullet lodged in his face and multiple medical complications to over come, including acute renal disease. One of our longest term resident this year, Buck was with us 8 months, having had multiple surgeries and working on getting his renal disease under control. It took him awhile to trust all of us, but he thrived and became a regular member of the CCAS family. Once Buck was put on the main adoption floor, we posted lots of adorable pictures of him and what expectations a new family would have in moving forward with an adoption. While some families came to ask about him, several times, he was passed over as it wasn't the right fit or the challenges of taken on medical issues that would be long term. In October of this year, a young woman came in and keenly listened as we told her Buck's story. Where he had been and what it would look like going forward with costly prescription food bills and follow up exams. She was not deterred and after meeting with him, she knew he was the pup for her. She recently sent a 'pupdate' which we were able to share on our Facebook page: "Hey everybody! Remember me? I just thought I’d check in from home to let you know being adopted is awesome! My mom takes me to the park and let’s me do zoomies until my heart’s content; then we chill at home. She says I’m a special dog, brimming with affection and super obedient. She said she’s lucky to have me, but I know I’m the lucky one!" We were overjoyed! The work that was achieved with Buck is due in large part to organizations such as Ganley who donates to our Best Friends Medical Fund. This fund serves to treat all of our medical needs for the strays that come into the shelter. It's because of their generosity and the generosity of all of the community at large that we can provide those life saving surgeries, medicines and pricey prescription foods that saved Buck's life. We feel so incredibly blessed and are thankful that Buck now gets to live the life he always deserved.

Buck Moore's Long Journey - Jen H

Buck Moore came to the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter after he had been shot in the head twice, at point blank range. Miraculously he survived, but he had a bullet lodge in his face and multiple medical complications to overcome including acute renal injury. That means that during the remainder of his life, he will require lots of follow up exams and very pricey prescription food. Due to these medical issues, he was one of our longest term resident being here for almost 8 months, but he thrived and soon became one of our favorite dogs and certainly one of the family. But we knew his issues were going to make him hard to place with a family. Despite posting Buck Moore on our website and (what we think) were the cutest pictures ever, he didn't receive too much interest and for those that were interested, it was understandably a lot for an adopter to take on. But just this past October, a young woman expressed interest and keenly listened as we told her everything he had been through and where he would need to go from here. She wasn't scared off. She met with Buck, fell in love and decided to adopt. It wasn't that long ago that we received an update and we were able to post this on our Facebook page, "Hey everybody! Remember me? I just thought I’d check in from home to let you know being adopted is awesome! My mom takes me to the park and let’s me do zoomies until my heart’s content; then we chill at home. She says I’m a special dog, brimming with affection and super obedient. She said she’s lucky to have me, but I know I’m the lucky one!" It warmed our hearts! And the reason we are able to make transformation stories possible is through the help of our community partners, like Ganley Subaru, whose donations to our Best Friends Medical Fund make it possible for us to provide those life saving surgeries and the costly medicines and food that would able to keep Buck alive and thriving (and now living the life he deserves). We are so grateful for all of their support and for the support of all our community in helping us live our mission, 'a home for every dog'.

Rid-All Loves Ganley Subaru - Tim L

Hi, my name is Tim Lewis, and I am an Urban Farmer from Cleveland, OH, who had the opportunity to work on the Subaru Loves the Earth campaign back in 2019. Being apart of the movement opened up doors of opportunity to show kids the importance of living a sustainable lifestyle and how cool it could be. I was able to take kids that had never left their neighborhood throughout Ohio & show them the difference between Urban Farming & Rural Farming & how they both play a part in the bigger picture of sustainability and agriculture while driving a 2019 Subaru Forester provided By the dealership. The experience changed my life & gave me a platform & opportunity to open the kid's eyes up & expand their views on sustainability and how Cool Subaru vehicles are. I'm looking forward to what the future has in store for the "Subaru Loves the Earth ”campaign. Peace Love & Growth -Tim Lewis

Major Harrison and Brandon Boro of Ganley Subaru of Bedford were thrilled to visit The Seidman Cancer Center at University Hospital. Armed with blankets and lunch box sized arts & crafts kits, Chesley Cheatham and Marge Galla of University Hospital guided Major and Brandon along with representatives from the Northern Ohio Leukemia & Lymphoma Society chapter to patients and their families where they offered hope, love, and warmth. A highlight of the visit was meeting Maureen Kline a nurse on the oncology floor. Unbeknownst to Major and Brandon, Maureen had recently purchased a new Subaru Forrester from their location! Maureen had a very positive experience when purchasing her car and was now watching that Subaru is more than cars. Subaru shows love and respect to all people and makes the world a better place. visiting university hospitals - chloe b

University Hospitals in the greater Cleveland area welcomed guests John Romeo, Sales Manager and Chloe Babcock from Ganley Subaru of Bedford to visit their hospital for the Subaru Loves to Care event. Alongside some members of the hospital we visited patients fighting cancer and gave them a little bit of hope and a beautiful blue blanket donated by Subaru of America. Not only was it a blessing to see the patients light up when we presented them with the blankets, it was nice to see that even though they are fighting cancer they still had a reason to smile and laugh. Who knew that a little blue blanket could bring so much happiness? We were also able to visit the children at Rainbow Babies and Children’s hospital to give them a lunchbox full of art supplies. John and I got a tour of the facility where we were shown the beautiful grounds. The hospital has an outdoor area for the children to play in and the library is full of books and movies for them to choose from. Inside is a small stage events the children participate in. Not only was it a moving experience for Mr. Romeo and myself, it was an experience that neither one of us will forget for a long time to come.

Ganley Subaru of Bedford earth event - Gearity E

Ganley Subaru of Bedford was invited on May 16th to Gearity Elementary School to celebrate the earth! The fabulous Jackie Taylor who is the STEM coordinator explained to the Ganley Subaru representatives John Romeo and Chloe Babcock that Gearity Elementary is a STEM based public school. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Jackie explained that the school is very hands on when learning about the environment. The students enjoy taking care of a greenhouse on school grounds. They also learn the benefits of growing their own vegetables, taking care of insect based plants, and tending to the plants to keep them healthy. The students understand why protecting the earth is so important and how humanity can coexist with nature. The second graders of Angela Hoang’s class were very excited about the bird feeder, frog pond, bird baths, and plants that Subaru sent over. They already planted the insect attracting plants and look forward to hanging up the bird feeders and bird bath to study the birds and see how they interact with nature. Mr. Romeo spoke to the students about the Subaru plant in indiana explaining what the plant does and how it coexisits with nature. He explained how we can, in our community create the same environment as the plant in Indiana.

Children and Teen Volunteers saying Thank You - Yosef M

The Holiday spirit was in the air when a bus full of children stopped by Ganley Subaru of Bedford to thank the incredible team of salespeople who were sharing the story of Friendship Circle to customers as part of the Share the Love event. Friendship Circle recruits teenagers to befriend children with special needs, and engages them in a full range of social and community activities. The children are enriched through these friendships, by giving them joyful moments, self-confidence, and important life skills and social skills lessons for the real world. Teenagers describe their involvement with Friendship Circle as transforming, because the feeling you get from helping a child through a challenge is so self-rewarding as well. During the two-week school break, teens dedicate their time to participate at Friendship Circle's Winter Camp. On Thursday, December 22, camp was returning from a trip of bowling, and were excited to make a stop at Ganley Subaru of Bedford to present a large Thank You Card to general manager Michael Friedman and his team. They were in for a surprise when all the staff at Ganley Subaru hander the children ready-made packages of gifts and chocolate, as a Holiday gift for the children. There was much laughter, singing and joy, which left an uplifting positive impression on the staff, the campers and the customers that were lucky to witness this touching encounter.

Ganley Subaru Shares the Love Again! - Jennifer S

For the seventh year in a row, Ganley Subaru of Bedford teamed up with the Rose Centers for Aging Well to help raise awareness for senior hunger. This year Ganley Subaru collected non-perishable food items at their dealership and helped deliver meals to low-income and homebound seniors in the community. On the day of the drive, Ganley Subaru employees rolled up to Southeast Clergy Meals on Wheels in four Subaru vehicles. Ganley employees were paired with Meals on Wheels volunteers to deliver hot meals, frozen meals and special holiday gift bags that were donated from local churches. Many seniors commented on the new delivery car in their driveway as Ganley Subaru employees and volunteers arrived at their doorsteps. Many of these seniors live below the poverty line and are often very isolated in their home. Their meal delivery driver may be the only social interaction they have all day. Seeing the smiles on their faces and the appreciation from the seniors receiving meals made everyone's day.
